Small miracles big impression

When I was a young child of 8 or so, it was planned that was to go to a friends for a Saturday outing. Shortly before the agreed on time for me to be taken over to my friends, my mom took my younger sister and I on a quick errand. When we left the store my younger sister started to get very upset that she had lost one of her favorite toys (almost a security blanket type of toy) somewhere in the store. My mom knew if we didn’t leave then we wouldn’t make it to my friends house in time for me to join them for the afternoons plans and she knew if she didn’t locate the toy her youngest daughter would be devastated. To this day, decades later, I remember my mom telling me “let’s pray for Gods help” and her simple plea for God to help her in what seemed an impossible situation. As soon as she finished I opened my eyes and there right in front of me was my younger sisters lost toy and we were able to leave on time.

I can’t say that the world would have ended if my sister or I hadn’t had our needs met. I can’t say that my mom would have had any significant parenting struggles if one or both of us had to sacrifice our wants at that point in time. I can’t even say a single negative thing would have ever happened had God chosen not to bring the toy to us the way he did. I can say that I saw God perform a miracle with my own eyes. One that soothed a beleaguered mom and two kids and gave me a measure of faith I have cherished from that day on.
